How we make money

Some links on this site earn us a small commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra. It never changes what we recommend.

That is the whole story. The rest of this page is the detail, in case you want it.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a normal link to a shop with a tag on the end. If you click it and buy something, the shop pays us a small share of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway.

Where you will see them

Next to the things we recommend, on the shopping-list items. Every block with affiliate links in it carries this line, above the links, where you cannot miss it:

Some links on this page earn us a small commission if you buy. It costs you nothing extra and it never changes what we recommend.

Not in the footer. Not in grey 11px type. Above the link.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • We never recommend something because it pays better. If the right item has no affiliate option, it still goes in, and it goes in first.
  • Dadda's pick is Josh's own experience. It is the thing he actually used, with the thing that annoyed him about it included. It is marked as opinion.
  • The advice is never for sale. Nothing about car seats, safe sleep, cots or feeding is shaped by what earns a commission. Those pages say what Dadda would say to a mate, commission or no commission.
  • No fake urgency. No countdowns, no "only two left", no pretending a price is about to change.
  • We say when we do not know. If we could not source a claim, we cut it and we write down that we cut it. You will find a "cut from this page" note at the bottom of our pages. That is on purpose.

What this site is not

It is not medical advice. It is general information, written for a first-time dad who is trying to work out what the words mean and what to buy.

If we get something wrong

Tell us — hello@howtodadda.com. A wrong fact matters more to us than any commission, and we will fix it and change the date on the source.

Anything about your own data goes to privacy@howtodadda.com instead, and Privacy explains what we hold.
