Complain about a comment
Other dads post their own picks on this site, in their own words, and nobody checks one before it goes up. If one of them should not be there, email hello@howtodadda.com and it comes off the page within seven days.
That is the whole route. The rest of this page is what to put in the email and what we do with it.
What this page is for
Under some items on the list, dads write which one they bought and why. Each one carries the dad’s first name and his own words. We do not write them, we do not check them, and they go up the moment he presses Post.
Use this page if one of those comments:
- is about you, or about your business, and is not true;
- uses your name or your words without asking;
- is abuse, or spam.
You do not need an account to complain, and you do not need to be a dad.
How to complain
Email hello@howtodadda.com. Putting Complaint in the subject line helps us get to it faster, but if you forget, it still counts from the day it arrives.
Tell us four things:
- Which comment. The link to the page it is on, and enough of what it says that we can pick the right one. Copy and paste is ideal.
- What is wrong with it. In your own words. One line is enough.
- Why it is about you, if it is. From the outside we often cannot tell whether a comment is about you, your business, or somebody else entirely.
- How to reach you. The address you are writing from will do.
You do not have to write it like a lawyer and you do not have to quote any law at us. Plain English is faster for both of us.
What we do, and how fast
Within seven days of your email arriving, the comment comes off the public page. Not edited, not moved down — taken down, so nobody can read it there any more.
We will write back inside the same seven days and tell you it is done.
Seven days is the outside limit, not the plan. Most of the time it will be the day we read your email.
What we do not do
- We do not hold a hearing first. If you tell us a comment about you should not be up, it comes down and we sort the rest out afterwards.
- We do not decide who was right. Taking a comment down is not us saying the dad who wrote it lied. It is us not wanting to be the place that argument happens.
- We do not give out your details. We tell the dad who wrote it that it came down, and roughly why. We never pass on your name, your email or anything else you sent us.
- We do not charge for any of this, and we will not ask you to fill in a form.
If it is not a comment
Three other things reach a different place:
- A fact we got wrong in our own words — same mailbox, hello@howtodadda.com. We fix it and change the date on the source.
- Anything about your own data — privacy@howtodadda.com. Privacy says what we hold and how to get a copy of it or have it deleted.
- A comment you posted yourself — you do not need us for that. Open the item, and there is an edit and a delete on your own words.
Who you are writing to
How to Dadda is Joshua Easter. When this page says “we”, that is who it means.
